G-Wagon Interior Colors: 12 Combinations We Recommend
Short answer: a G-Wagon interior can take almost any leather color, but the looks that work keep the factory black cabin and change a few parts in one or two colors: the seat centers or the band around them, the door inserts, and small accents on the steering wheel and the seat sides. Below are twelve G-Wagon interior colors we recommend for the G 63 and G 550, each as a complete kit with its price. They are only our suggestions: every one opens in our free configurator, where you can change anything and build your own.

We change G-Wagon interior colors in our shop all the time, and the pictures on this page come from the same configurator our clients use. Each kit shows three things you pay for: the seats and doors, the steering wheel with its airbag cover, and the side panels of the front seats.
What colors can a G-Wagon interior be?
More than most owners think. The US configurator for the 2026 G 550 lists 40 upholstery choices, from plain black to Saddle Brown, Bengal Red, Catalana Beige and Lime Green. Mercedes-Benz USA says that over 90 percent of G-Class buyers order at least one option from its MANUFAKTUR personalization program. So a G with color inside is normal, even straight from the factory.
Our configurator has 17 leathers: Black, Graphite, Platinum, Ivory, Sand, Tan, Cognac, Espresso, Bordeaux, Red, Orange, Pink, Navy, Baby Blue, Aqua, Forest and Lime. Some of them you will never find in a Mercedes list. Turquoise and light blue, for example, are not factory G-Class colors at all. That is where custom work comes in.
How we put a G-Wagon interior color together
Interior designers use a simple rule called 60-30-10: about 60 percent of the room in the main color, 30 percent in a second one and 10 percent in an accent. A G-Wagon already gives you the 60: the dashboard, the roof, the carpets and the console are black. The seats and the doors carry the 30. The accent is the small stuff: the zero mark on the wheel, the ring on the airbag cover, the stitching on the seat sides.
That is why every look on this page has at most two colors next to the factory black. Three is already a lot for one cabin: Rolls-Royce calls a three-color interior a subtle palette.
The top of the dashboard stays black on purpose. A light dashboard reflects in the windshield, and a University of Michigan study found that drivers see worse in bright sun when the dashboard top is lighter. So we change what you sit on and touch, and leave what you look over.
G-Wagon interior colors we recommend
Every kit below includes all four door inserts, the steering wheel and the seat side panels. The full kits also change the seat centers and the armrest, and give the wheel colored grips and a colored zero mark, plus a colored outer ring on the airbag cover; the rest of the wheel stays black. Where a look has a black band next to new centers, that band is the car's own: we do not re-trim it and it is not in the price.

Lighter G-Wagon interior kits: color on the seat band only
Black seats with a colored band are a factory idea: Mercedes offers them as a MANUFAKTUR option on the G 550, in nine colors, two of them red. Most G-Wagons we see left the dealer without it. If you like your factory black seats and want color for less, keep the centers. These kits put the color on the seat band and the door inserts, re-trim the steering wheel in black with a colored zero mark, leave the airbag cover black, and finish the seat side panels with colored stitching.

Red frame: the factory red and black G-Wagon interior, added later
Red on the seat band and the door inserts, the factory black AMG centers in between. It is the look Mercedes put in the first G 63 of this generation: the Edition 1 of 2018 had black leather with a red band and red stitching. If your G left the dealer all black, this kit adds that look now. Suits black or grey cars.

Classic diamonds or AMG-style?
The seat centers come in two patterns. Classic diamonds are the quilted squares turned on their corner, the look most people picture when they think of a G-Wagon. The AMG-style pattern is quilted too, with a figured perforation in the leather. Most G 63s we see in our shop have the AMG-style centers from the factory, so if you keep your centers and change only the band, your seats keep that pattern. With new centers you choose. The AMG-style pattern costs more, and you can see the difference in the kits above.
Light or dark leather in the Florida sun
Heat first. An Arizona State University study measured car seats at 123°F after one hour in the sun, and that was in silver cars. Dark leather takes in most of the sunlight, which is why BMW and Mercedes developed special pigments for their dark leathers that keep the surface about 23 to 36°F cooler. Nobody has published a clean test of a black seat against a white one, so we will not give you a number.
Then denim. Lexus engineers traced a blue-grey stain on light seats, right where the driver slides in, to the indigo in jeans. Volkswagen even has a test for it: leather is rubbed a thousand times against denim and graded. On black leather you never see it. On ivory or baby blue you do, so a light interior asks for more regular cleaning.
How a G-Wagon interior color change works
We re-trim only the parts in your kit. The outer bolsters, where the side airbags sit, the headrests and the backs of the seats keep their factory leather, and the heating and ventilation keep working. The seat and door color package takes 3 business days. Your drop-off and pickup dates go in writing once your leather is in our shop. Every G-Wagon leaves with a signed certificate: your VIN, the number of the leather we used and the date, with a 3-year warranty on the work.
Build your own G-Wagon interior
These twelve kits are our suggestions, nothing more. Open any of them in the G-Wagon configurator and change a color, the pattern or a part. It is free for anyone, from anywhere in the US, and it shows the price as you go. When you have a look you like, our shop is in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area, and we will put your G-Wagon on the bench.
