01Sound familiar?

When a headliner needs new material

Once a headliner starts to go, you see it every time you get in.

  1. 01

    It sags

The foam behind the fabric turns to dust with age and heat, and the fabric drops toward your head.

  2. 02

    Stains and water marks

A leak, a spill or smoke leaves marks that cleaning only spreads.

  3. 03

    Loose at the edges

The material pulls away around the sunroof, the handles and the lights.

  4. 04

    A new look

Alcantara or leather overhead, quilting or a second color, to finish a new interior.

02What we do

Factory look, or something new

The headliner comes out of the car, gets its new material on the bench, and goes back with every light, handle and clip in place.

  • Factory fabric

New headliner fabric in the factory color and texture, laid flat and tight.

  • Alcantara

Soft, matte and sporty. The classic upgrade overhead, on the pillars and the visors too.

  • Leather and quilting

Smooth leather, or a quilted pattern in one or two colors, like the red and black G-Wagon below.

  • Always

    Everything goes back in place

Lights, handles, the sunroof frame, sensors and microphones go back exactly where they were.

03Questions

Questions we hear most

Short, honest answers. Anything else: send a photo and ask.

How long does it take?

Usually 1 to 2 business days, counted from the day after you drop off the car. With the pillars and the visors it can take a day longer. Your drop-off and pickup dates go in writing once your leather is in our shop (if we order it, usually 1 to 1.5 weeks), and if we are late you pay less.

Why does a headliner sag?

The material is glued to a thin layer of foam. Heat breaks that foam down over the years until it crumbles, and the material lets go with it. Gluing the old fabric back does not hold, because there is nothing left to hold on to. We strip the old foam and lay new material on a clean board.

Fabric, Alcantara or leather?

Fabric gives you the factory look. Alcantara feels soft and matte and suits sporty and luxury cars. Leather, smooth or quilted, makes the boldest statement and lasts the longest.

Can I fix a sagging headliner with pins or spray glue?

Only for a few weeks. Pins leave holes, spray glue soaks through the fabric and stains it, and the foam underneath keeps crumbling. The fix that lasts is to strip the old material and foam off the board and lay new material on it, which is what we do.

Do you take the headliner out of the car?

Yes. We take it out, re-trim it on the bench and put it back with every light, handle and clip in place. You can also ship us the headliner out of the car from any state.

Will the sunroof, the lights and the sensors still work?

Yes. Everything that sits in the headliner, from the lights and the handles to the sunroof frame and the microphones, goes back exactly where it was.

How much does it cost?

From $800 in fabric. In Alcantara, the whole headliner with all the pillars starts at $1,400, and in leather at $2,500. Send photos and we reply with your final price within 1 hour during business hours.
